MIDTRANS: International Freight Forwarding Across Three Generations

MIDTRANS SHIPPING AND SERVICES was founded in Damascus in 1998 by Khaldoun Al-Khouli, extending an Al-Khouli family freight and transit heritage that began in Syria in 1960. For businesses seeking a freight forwarder in Dubai and the UAE, MIDTRANS combines regional operating knowledge with active capabilities in Damascus, Latakia, and Tartous and trusted agent networks linking Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Syria.

Our teams coordinate sea, air, and road freight, FCL and LCL container shipping, customs clearance, Jebel Ali warehousing, and door-to-door delivery. We also plan project cargo, heavy-lift and oversized movements, dangerous goods, and multimodal transport according to each shipment's route, documentation, handling requirements, and current operational acceptance.

Since beginning internal automation in 2006, MIDTRANS has developed digital tools that support route comparison, document management, shipment requests, and AI-assisted container loading. Experienced logistics professionals remain responsible for reviewing cost, transit time, reliability, cargo requirements, and service conditions before any commitment is confirmed.

Operational focus

A Grounded Logistics Heritage

The Al-Khouli family entered the Syrian freight and transit sector in 1960. Deeb Al-Khouli founded Arab Transit Company; the second generation was Salim Deeb Al-Khouli, and Khaldoun Al-Khouli represents the third generation. MIDTRANS was established to extend that experience into international freight forwarding, maritime logistics, project cargo, customs coordination, and digital freight management. Complex Cargo and Industrial Logistics

MIDTRANS has developed experience with industrial production lines, power and electrical equipment, transformers, heavy presses, petrochemical and chemical cargo, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications equipment, dangerous goods, bulk and breakbulk movements. Its historical project cooperation with JAS Projects supported project-cargo, vessel-chartering, heavy-lift, multipurpose-vessel, bulk, and liquid-cargo work; this was project-based cooperation, not an exclusivity or agency claim. Strategic Trade Lanes

China and East Asia, Europe and Turkey, the UAE and Jebel Ali, Syria and regional access, and Egypt are key commercial clusters. MIDTRANS evaluates options between origins including China, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, India, Malaysia, Europe, Turkey, and the United States, and destinations including the UAE, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait.

For Syria, sea access through Latakia or Tartous, and multimodal options through Mersin, Aqaba, or Jebel Ali may be considered. Route selection depends on cost, transit time, cargo type, border conditions, customs requirements, and carrier availability; these are operating options, not permanent schedules. Technology and Digital Freight Management

MIDTRANS began automating internal systems in 2006 and expanded digital workflows for quotation intake, agent-rate requests, service comparison, booking, operations, document management, tracking, delivery, invoicing, accounting, and customer interaction. Website, WhatsApp, and application channels support quotation intake. The freight application and AI-assisted cargo-loading application help evaluate dimensions, weight, stackability, rotation, container capacity, weight distribution, compatibility restrictions, loading plans, and available 3D visualization. Technology supports experienced logistics teams; it does not replace operational judgment. Digital Platform · Customer Portal

The ERP environment connects quotation data, bookings, forwarding activity, border-processing tasks, documents, milestone follow-up, delivery coordination, invoicing, and accounting records. Digital tools improve visibility and reduce repetitive administrative work, while freight, customs, pricing, risk, and service decisions remain under professional human review.
